Barron Falls Walking Trail Footbridges
Eleven footbridges on the Barron Falls Walking Trail at Kuranda, carrying an accessible rainforest route above the Barron Gorge.
The Barron Falls Walking Trail runs 2.3 km, plus a 360 m loop, through rainforest above the Barron Gorge at Kuranda. Eleven footbridges carry it over the gullies and creeks that used to break the route, and it can be walked end to end as an accessible trail.
There is no road to most of those crossings. Our crew carried every bearer, joist and deck panel in along the trail by hand. Composite fibre made that possible, and the bridges are rated for cyclonic winds and designed for a 100 year life.
