Caboolture Golf Club Bridge Replacement
A 40 metre hybrid steel and composite fibre bridge carrying golf carts and walkers to the 17th hole at Caboolture Golf Club.
The 2022 floods destroyed the bridge at the 17th hole and cut the back nine off for three years. The replacement had to cross 40 metres of creek with no support in the water, under a live powerline, from riverbank ground a crane could barely stand on.
We built the whole span on the bank and set it in a single 24 tonne lift from 45 metres away. Getting it that light meant using galvanised steel where the loads concentrate and Wagners composite fibre through the span, the first bridge of its kind in Australia. Carts run straight through to the 17th again, on sweeping approaches the Club asked for during design.
