The roof and internal columns of East Tamworth Reservoir were due for replacement, and the buried concrete tank underneath was worth keeping if it could be proved sound. The specification put that proof first. We removed the old roof, columns, inlet pipe and ladder, then cored the wall and floor for strength and density testing and scanned the concrete for soundness and reinforcement before any rebuild began.

All of it happened inside a buried structure with a single entry. High pressure washing stripped tree roots, silt and laitance blisters back to sound concrete, and all of that wash water and debris came back out the same way. New concrete columns then went in to carry the replacement roof. The access stairs and internal ladder are FRP, because the humid, chlorinated air above the water consumes galvanising. We delivered this work for Steelworks Engineering.
