Kingaroy Water Main Replacement Program
Replacement water mains along seven street sections in Kingaroy, with every connected home and business kept on supply.
Seven street sections of Kingaroy's water network were replaced in one program for South Burnett Regional Council. New HDPE mains from 125 to 225 mm went in under trafficked town streets, with new valves, hydrants and service connections, and the roads were rebuilt behind the trench to at least their original condition. The old mains were disconnected and filled solid with grout.
Every house and business on those streets was drinking from the main being replaced. Each new main was pressure tested, chlorinated and flushed before anything was connected, then tied into the live 100 and 150 mm mains and the services moved across one at a time. At one junction a 375 mm under pressure tap took a new branch off a charged main with the network still running. The town stayed in water through the whole program.
