Tchoobey Reserve Pedestrian Footbridge
A single clear span footbridge at Tchoobey Reserve, Burleigh Heads, delivered in one piece down a residential lane.
The truss for Tchoobey Reserve arrived in one piece, down a lane with houses on either side, into a vegetated suburban reserve at Burleigh Heads. The creek through the middle of the reserve used to stop the walking route at the water. Residents walk the reserve end to end over a 2 metre wide mini mesh deck with a cycle rail.
A pier in the creek would have meant scour protection, a debris trap and a permanent maintenance item, so the bridge crosses in a single clear span with nothing in the water. The composite fibre truss was prefabricated off site and placed as one unit with small plant, which kept machinery inside a tight footprint and held disturbance on the banks to the abutment locations. Every connection is grade 316 stainless steel.
