Currumbin Bikeway Bridge Topping Slab
A concrete topping slab on the Currumbin bikeway bridge in Len Wort Park, used daily by riders and walkers.
Two days was the whole program. Pouring a topping slab takes a bridge out of service, and the people who ride and walk the Currumbin path network use this crossing daily, so the job was planned around a closure on 7 and 8 August 2017 and nothing longer.
A slab on a bikeway deck runs in a fixed order: form, fix steel, pour, finish. Anything that delays the start pushes the closure into a third day. A supervisor, carpenter and labourer were on site from 7 am both mornings, with the formply, plant and consumables already there, and services across the park were located before work began. We did the work for Wagners CFT Manufacturing, and the path went back into use on the finished deck inside the two days.
