Bridge and Causeway Repairs, Gold Coast Hinterland
Post wet season repairs to sixteen bridges, causeways and creek crossings Gold Coast hinterland residents rely on to reach a main road.
Fourteen of the sites needed their own traffic guidance scheme, because most of these crossings sit on rural roads with no detour, through Tallebudgera Valley, Currumbin Valley, Austinville, Maudsland, Guanaba and Clagiraba. The work ran from Boyds Timber Bridge to the Albert River Bridge at Stapylton, and we worked through the entire list for City of Gold Coast.
Each repair on its own was routine work: clearing debris from headstocks, placing rock over geotextile on scoured abutments, shotcreting and regrouting, resealing and reinstating guardrail. Running sixteen of them as one program took the discipline. Each crossing was assessed once the debris was out and repaired to suit, then inspected as its own lot before the crew moved to the next valley.
