Vanderbilt Court Jetty, Lake Orr, Varsity Lakes
The Vanderbilt Court park jetty on Lake Orr, Varsity Lakes, rebuilt in FRP with moorings and a water access ladder.
The park at Vanderbilt Court runs down to Lake Orr, and it is where people at Varsity Lakes hold their parties. The jetty at the bottom is the reason it gets booked. City of Gold Coast replaced the old timber jetty with an FRP structure, ModWood Marina decking, recycled plastic kick rails, mooring cleats, fender posts and a water access ladder.
A jetty lives in the splash zone and goes fully under in a flood, the condition that rots timber and lifts coatings off steel at the connections. This one is FRP with stainless fixings, and Council's ongoing work is inspection and cleaning. Silt curtains went in before the old jetty came apart and stayed until the work was done, keeping debris out of a lake people swim and boat in.
