Hazelbrook Station Structural Steel Works

Structural steel for a new lift shaft, footbridge landing and platform canopy at Hazelbrook Station, giving step free access to trains.

WeekendsRail possessions

Hazelbrook Station was upgraded with a lift, a rebuilt footbridge landing and a reconfigured platform, giving passengers who cannot use stairs step free access to the trains. We delivered the structural steel: the galvanised lift shaft frame and roof, the platform structure, balustrades and stainless handrails, throw screens on the footbridge, and a glazed canopy over the ticket machines set by hi rail crane.

Most of it went in during weekend rail possessions. The railway closes and reopens on a published schedule. The method was written hour by hour and agreed with the principal contractor before the first possession. Glazing, roofing and lift trades shared the same platform footprint on the same clock, working above a live platform. The station went back into service at the end of every shift.
