Hospital and Shopping Centre Plant Works, South East Queensland
Plinths, roof openings and access works that let Johnson Controls replace chillers and cooling towers inside operating buildings across South East Queensland.
Ten sites across Brisbane and South East Queensland between 2018 and 2024, including Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Greenslopes Private Hospital, Westfield Garden City and the Queensland Cultural Centre. At each one Johnson Controls Australia was replacing mechanical plant, and we did the building work either side of it: concrete plinths, roof sheeting and purlins off and back on, plant access walkways, repairs and painting.
A plant replacement runs to the crane lift, and the lift is booked before we arrive. Plinths are poured and cured before the unit lands. Roofs are opened only as far as the unit needs and closed watertight in the same shift, because these hospitals, shopping centres and office buildings operate as normal the whole time. Plant rooms keep working. The job is to be ready before the crane and finished behind it.
