Mooloolah River Footbridge

A 22 metre composite fibre truss footbridge carrying walkers and cyclists over the Mooloolah River mouth beside Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba.

Mooloolah River Footbridge
22.2 mLongest span
9 tSingle lift

The new Mooloolah River footbridge weighed about nine tonnes with its deck on. That was light enough to set in one lift, so Brisbane Road, the main way into Mooloolaba, needed traffic control for only a few hours.

The old bridge came out and the 22 metre composite truss landed on the existing headwalls, with no room for adjustment once it was down. Walkers and cyclists cross the Mooloolah River mouth beside Brisbane Road on a 2.5 metre wide composite truss footbridge, built from materials that salt air and flood tides do not corrode.
