Skyridge Stair Climb and Bridge

A stair climb and pedestrian bridge through the Skyridge estate at Worongary, giving residents a walking route up the hillside.

Skyridge Stair Climb and Bridge

The Skyridge estate at Worongary is built up a hillside too steep for a path. Residents walk up a composite fibre stair climb and cross a pedestrian bridge at the low point, and every footing under the stair is founded in rock.

A crane cannot stand on that slope, and machine access would have meant cutting a track through the estate. So the crew carried the structure up. Each composite fibre section was lifted into position by the crew, and the stair was assembled in place, climbing its own alignment with a working footprint no wider than the stair. Setting out the footings on a steep slope so the flight lands correctly at the top took the most time.
