Storm and flood damage destroyed the stairs off the Esplanade at White Patch. Built for City of Moreton Bay between December 2022 and June 2023, the new stairs sit on the same alignment, grade and landings, at a minimum 2 m wide, in composite fibre with no timber in them.

Council required the new stair to match the original total going and rise. The batter had moved since the old stair was built. The new one had to meet the same top and bottom levels on ground that had shifted. The slope was surveyed in its new condition before the geometry was certified. Composite members went down the slope on foot, and the crew built from within the stair's own footprint, keeping machines off a slope that had already failed once.
