ANZAC Centenary Memorial Boardwalk, Emu Park
A 175 metre memorial boardwalk on the Emu Park foreshore, finishing at a viewing deck below the Singing Ship.
Emu Park's Centenary of ANZAC Memorial Walk follows the foreshore as a timeline of the major battles of the First World War, and ends at a viewing deck below the Singing Ship. Residents walk it daily and the town gathers on it every ANZAC Day. We built the Stage One structures: about 175 metres of boardwalk, the viewing deck, a girder truss bridge and the entry gateway and gallery deck, on fibre composite posts and bearers that stand up to salt wind and constant wet and dry cycles.
A cyclone crossed the coast while the boardwalk was part built. Because each element sits where the story puts it, position matters on this walk. We re established the survey across 160 metres of alignment and set every footing back on its surveyed position before the boardwalk went back up.
