Caloundra Headland Coastal Pathway Boardwalk
Full width boardwalk for walkers, runners, cyclists and prams on the Coastal Pathway across the Caloundra headland above Kings Beach.
North of Kings Beach, between Albert Street and the Centaur Park car park, the Coastal Pathway had narrowed below its 3 metre minimum. Walkers, runners, cyclists and prams were squeezing past each other on one of the busiest stretches of the coast. That section is now full width boardwalk, and we installed the Wagners components across the headland.
The deck sits high on an exposed headland with the ground falling away underneath, so the whole job was work at height in salt spray, and we brought all the height safety equipment ourselves. The piles and their connections were already set. Every bearer and joist had to land on those fixed points around a curved alignment and still give a true deck and handrail line. Access hatches in the deck allow the structure and services below to be inspected later.
