UniSC UniCentral Boardwalk Renewal
Renewal of the main boardwalk linking UniCentral to the UniSC Sippy Downs campus, plus three further campus crossings.
Thirteen weeks was the window. The crossing between UniCentral and the Sippy Downs campus is how students get from their accommodation to class, so the University needed it closed, rebuilt and reopened inside the summer break. Students came back in 2025 to a 59.4 m by 3 m composite fibre crossing with the original light poles reinstated on it, and three more renewed boardwalks nearby.
That window, including the Christmas shutdown, held investigation, design and certification, demolition, foundations, substructure, decking, lighting and concrete tie ins. The light poles came off the old structure intact and went onto the new one, with their cabling run inside the joists. Light composite members let a small crew with compact plant build the full length on a pedestrian route, and the three other crossings were fitted into gaps in the main program.
