Coronet Park Boardwalk, Burleigh Waters
An elevated boardwalk at Coronet Park, Burleigh Waters, keeping the estate's footpath to the shops and bus stop open in wet weather.
A low section of path in Coronet Park went under water whenever overland flow ponded across it. That cut residents off from the shopping centre and bus stop at exactly the times they most needed a bus. The path lifts over that ground on an elevated boardwalk and is usable through the rain.
This is a commuter route with peak foot traffic. The deck was designed for 5 kPa, a crowd loading that also covers a maintenance crew working on it later. The frame is FRP and steel with stainless fixings, chosen for a deck that spends its life wetting and drying. We took Council's concept through to certified design and built it.
