Doug Stevens Park Boardwalk Renewal, North-Eastern Section, Eatons Hill

Walkers, runners and families cross from Eatons Hill Village to the South Pine Sporting Complex on composite fibre boardwalk end to end. We built the eastern section in 2022. This work replaced the roughly 70 metres of elevated timber still standing at the north-eastern end, matched to the same width, and the link reads as one structure. The site floods in 5 per cent AEP events and above, and the design allows for water 6.5 metres over the deck.

The ecological assessment found tusked frogs living in the damp ground the boardwalk crosses. That meant an approved species management program and a licensed spotter catcher present for any activity that could disturb them. We regrouped the works so those activities ran together, and cut spotter catcher attendance from an estimated thirteen days to seven.
