Doug Stevens Park Boardwalk, Eatons Hill

The low ground in Doug Stevens Park goes under in floods and is hard to reach with plant. The members that sit lowest and stay wettest had to be made from a material that will not rot, rust or need repainting. Walkers cross that ground on a boardwalk framed in composite fibre pultrusions on reinforced concrete piers.

The boardwalk met the event it was designed for before it was finished, when the park flooded partway through the build. Once the flood debris was cleared, work carried on through to certification. City of Moreton Bay's renewal of this section of the walking link ran from October 2021 to June 2022, and it gives walkers a crossing built for the water that reaches it.
