Oasis Shopping Centre Chiller Plinth and Access Works
New structural openings and a concrete plinth that let replacement chiller plant into the plant room at Oasis Shopping Centre, Broadbeach.
The replacement chillers for Oasis Shopping Centre could not reach the plant room. The only route in ran through concrete block walls, and no opening along it was large enough. In December 2016 we were engaged to cut the access the new units needed, build the concrete plinth they would sit on, and put the building back together afterwards, with the centre trading as usual.
Both new doorways went through loadbearing blockwork. Each lintel was installed and supported before any block below it was cut away, and the sequence held at every stage in between. Because the plant area was still in use, temporary fencing went up as the old fencing and handrail came out and stayed until the openings were finished. Building the plinth in parallel meant the access route and the foundation for the new unit were ready together.
