Port Drive Filter Lane Repairs, Port of Brisbane
Weekend cement stabilisation of a heavy vehicle filter lane and access driveway off Port Drive at the Port of Brisbane.
The repair had to fit into one Saturday and Sunday, with Port Drive open in both directions and every worker inducted into the port before entry. Heavy vehicles use the filter lane off Port Drive and the access driveway behind it every working day, and both had deformed under the traffic and stopped shedding water. We stabilised 280 and 365 square metres of pavement in place, and both were back in service on the Monday.
In place stabilisation is what made one weekend enough. We tined the top 100 mm of existing gravel, added 33 tonnes of new gravel where the shape had gone, blended in cement and recompacted it into a bound layer with the right crossfall.
