East Pier Park Stairs and Platform, Urangan
A stairway and viewing platform down the face of the rebuilt seawall to the beach at East Pier Park, Urangan.
The stair at East Pier Park was built on a seawall that was still under construction, so the design interface and our crew's program were both tied to the seawall sequence. People on the Hervey Bay Esplanade at Urangan walk down the face of the new wall to the beach, with a viewing platform part way down.
The structure takes daily salt spray, wind blown sand, surge at its base and a 60 m/s design wind, on a 100 year design life. The load carrying structure is composite fibre, and the remaining metalwork is stainless steel, passivated and sealed.
