Vista Park and Oxenford Park Bridge Renewals
Replacement composite fibre footbridges on neighbourhood walking loops at Vista Park, Ormeau and Oxenford Park, Oxenford.
Two bridges, twenty minutes apart, each on a walking loop that locals use every day. City of Gold Coast renewed the footbridges at Vista Park in Ormeau and Oxenford Park together. Each was replaced on its existing alignment: an 8 m crossing at Vista Park, and a 12 m crossing at Oxenford with cycle friendly handrails carried past the abutments.
Council asked for particular attention to high UV and salt, which settled the materials: composite fibre with minimesh decking and stainless fixings. Each site ran as its own job, a demolition followed straight away by a build on the same alignment. At Vista Park the banks were re armoured with rip rap at each corner, and both bridges tie into the paths through new concrete transitions.
