The boardwalk at William Ager Park was made in Queensland, freighted to Yamba and built in twelve weeks in a working coastal reserve, finishing the week the town fills for summer. Walkers follow two structures along the frontage above the beach, with a viewing platform between them and a new concrete landing at the top of the existing beach stairs.

The boardwalk had to be open by 19 December, and a live sewer crossed the alignment. The sewer was located and the foundation positions reconciled with it on site while the crew kept building along the rest of the reserve. Light members carried in by the crew let the boardwalk advance on itself, with no crane or hardstand in the dunes. Ocean Drive traffic and pedestrians were managed on one side, while people used the reserve on the other.
